Packing & Value Protection

Packing your BorderBox

Our containers are built to protect your items from rough handling, but careful packing is very important.

Poor packing = high damage risk.

Shipments may experience forces over 3G—meaning a 100 lb box could feel 300+ lbs of impact. BorderBox is built for this, but your internal packing matters most.

Packing Tips

Parcel handling

Parcels are handled like airline luggage — your containers may be placed on any side.

  • Do not assume “this side up.” Pack as if the crate will be flipped, stacked, and dropped.
  • There is no safe orientation — every side must be cushioned equally.
  • Carrier assumes all packages are fragile in some nature. Adding a "fragile" or "this side up" sticker will not change or guide the carrier to handle your crate in a special way.

Packing guidelines

Packing fragile items correctly is crucial to ensure they arrive at their destination safely.

Watch out for:

  • Items in direct contact with the Kübox walls.
  • Fragile items in contact with other items.
  • Empty spaces and loose contents.
  • Overpacking.

Cushioning:

Items must not touch the crate walls directly.
Use bubble wrap, foam, or other cushioning so items “float” in the center of the crate.

  • No empty spaces. Fill voids with cushioning (bubble wrap, foam, or air pillows).
  • Clothing, bedding, or soft goods may be used only as secondary filler — never as a substitute for proper wrapping.

Wrapping:

Each item should be wrapped individually to prevent item-to-item damage.

  • Wrap each item with at least 2 inches of bubble wrap or foam on all sides.
  • Fragile items (glass, ceramics, electronics) should be double-wrapped for added protection.
  • Never use paper wrapping as a cushion — it offers no impact protection.

Final Check

  • Shake the crate gently — nothing should rattle.
  • Confirm all items are cushioned on every side.

Water-proofing (optional):

  • Place a plastic bag or cover inside the Kübox to protect your items from getting get.

Weight limit

  • Do not exceed the weight limit for each container.
  • Distribute weight evenly to avoid pressure points. Combine heavy items with lighter objects (clothes, accessories, blankets).
  • Lid must lock securely and flat, without bulging.

Prohibited items

The carrier does not transport any goods prohibited by law or regulation of any federal, state or local government in the origin or destination countries:

  • Fresh food, flowers, perishables.
  • Tobacco, pharmaceuticals.
  • Alcohol, or liquids of any kind.
  • Creams, makeup, perfume, fragrances.
  • New electronics / electric appliances.
  • Jewelry, fine art, bullion, watches >$1,000.
  • Money, coins, stamps, high-value items (>$250K).
  • Credit cards, bids/contracts, time-sensitive documents.
  • Pornography, contraband, illicit drugs.
  • Any illegal substances, cleaning chemicals, aerosol, or flammable items of any kind.
  • Hazardous items, firearms, ammunition, explosives.
  • Living animals, plants, biologics, or items from the domestic or world endangered species list.

Electronics and Batteries

You are allowed maximum two (2) battery-powered items per shipment:

  • Laptops, tablets, mobile phones
  • MP3 players, camcorders
  • Power tools, e-bikes

All batteries must be contained/installed in equipment.

  • Avoid turning on devices with installed batteries while being shipped.
  • Put protective covering on the switches of any device with these batteries to prevent accidental activation while in transit.
  • Don’t place heavy items on top of packed batteries.
  • Keep batteries away from other metal objects that may cause short-circuiting.

Electronics that require metal cell batteries, must be packed without batteries:

  • Watches, toys, calculators
  • Hearing aids
  • Cameras
  • Smoke detectors

For safety reasons, we do not accept:

  • Batteries without equipment.
  • Batteries packed outside equipment.
  • Batteries that have been damaged.
  • Waste batteries meant for recycling or disposal purposes.
